The sun was up, the sky was blue, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. An old man sat on a bench, overlooking the beach. Throughout his life, he had been through many hardships, but he had also been awarded many times in turn. Sitting on the bench, this man thought about his past.
He remembered that day, so long ago, when he thought the end had come. The day was young, and he was strolling through the city. The streets were bustling and the traffic was heavy. The honking of cars and buses could be heard from miles away.
It was at that moment time seemed to slow down. A car honked, the man turned around, but it was too late. The car smashed into him, and he laid limp on the ground. During that moment while he laid helpless on the ground, he closed his eyes and saw a light. A light with a welcoming glow and a hand extended towards him. However, something kept him tethered to the Earth. Something was telling him to hold on with everything he had left. And right then he opened his eyes and he was in the same place still racked with pain.
The old man smiled at this memory. He closed his eyes, and this time, he grabbed the hand, and let the light envelop him. On this day, when the man died. The sun was up, the sky was blue, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky.
